Tonight is the night! WNA is placing two search lights on either side of the proposed WHLL mega-sports complex on River Hills Road to highlight its boundaries and to raise community awareness of this project.
Look outside from 8:30 to 11:00 pm. If you can see the searchlights, you are in the are of potential impact from the WHLL’s 60 foot high commercial-grade sports field lighting and commercial grade loundspeakers. Remember, WHLL anticipates operating this proposed complex 365 days a year with the field lighting until 10:00 PM for a majority of the the time.
Several important items to notice on the map – the site consists of two very prominent hilltops and is surrounded by a large number of residential neighborhoods. It has a close proximinty to Lake Austim (only 500 yards away!) as well as Emma Long Park (City Park). It’s hilltop elevation, with over 200 feet of steep slopes around it, creates a lighthouse effect, resulting in bright lights and amplified sound traveling unobstructed in all directions. WNA estimates the area of potential impact to be approximately 20 square miles.

Light and Noise are just a part of the problem with this proposed mega-sports complex.
